Later this year, I’m publishing my first book under the title “90 Rules for Entrepreneurs”. 90 rules that I’ve learned over the years building my own businesses and working with hundreds of other small business owners. Over the next couple of months, I’ll be sharing some of these rules with everyone who pre-ordered my book (you can also do it by clicking here).
In this post: A great hack to make more of your time.
Whether you’ve just started your business or it has been going for years, the one thing entrepreneurs always need more of, is time. Time to get to everything, time to grow your business and sometimes just time to think where everything is heading to.
We are living in a world of constant distractions, where we are bombarded with information all the time. It is even worse for the business owner. From two sides: Firstly, everyone is trying to connect to you for something: to work for you, to work with you, to get your business. And on the other side, as entrepreneurs we always see the opportunity in everything, want to solve everything and run the danger of getting involved in too many projects and neglect the things that are truly important. As the proverb goes: if you chase two rabbits, both will escape.
And that is exactly the risk for entrepreneurs: we have limited time and we lose focus on what truly matters. Over the years, I’ve tried many techniques to maximise my time and there is one that stands out head above water:
Use the first 90 minutes of your day and work on the ONE thing that is most important to you. The one thing your business needs, the one thing that will make the biggest difference in your business. Schedule those 90 minutes in your diary and treat it as a meeting with the most important person on earth. Switch off your phone, lock yourself in a room and just work on that one concept. 90 minutes are nothing, but over time it adds up and makes a massive difference.
We all know, business owners need to work more ON their businesses, than IN their businesses. This 90 minute rule, will give you that opportunity.
TAKE ACTION: Your challenge is to start this tomorrow. 90 minutes dedicated to only one thing.
We can spend our days working on other people’s priorities or we can proactively chase our own dreams. The decision is yours.
